Lady Augusta Carlington has found her true love, and an idyllic summer together has shown that all that is needed is his proposal. All seems wonderful, until she discovers that he is to travel to Italy – a dangerous matter indeed, as Napoleon’s armies and navy make all manners of travel a matter of risking one’s life. But surely, if he must go, he will propose before he does?
