“Write what you know,” they said.
I was on my third marriage. I wrote romances for Harlequin/Silhouette.
Fast forward ten years.
“Write what you know,” they said.
I’d been divorced three times. Obviously I knew nothing about romance. However, I am obsessed with chocolate, and I have often fantasized about murdering my ex. So…Death by Chocolate!
In 2012 I Indie published the first Death by Chocolate book which sold a few copies, but not enough to support my Coke and chocolate habit. So maybe I should start a different series. What could I write about if not murder and chocolate?
As I sat at my desk, looking out the window and thinking, my cell phone rang.
My ex.
Divorced ten years and he was still stalking me.
He was never going to leave me alone!
And he was never going to die.
And even if he did die, his ghost would come back and haunt me.
That inspired me write The Ex Who Wouldn’t Die.
Then both books started selling well, I can support my Coke and chocolate habit, and I get e-mails from readers who like my books…and that inspires me to write more books in each series!
BTW, he’s still not dead.
