I work to live, I live to make music (and occasionally knit).

Born on the west coast (Palo Alto, CA); raised on the east coast (Quincy, MA) and dragged to the middle coast of west Michigan (Grand Rapids) shortly after marrying in 1989. I thought I was being taken to the ends of the earth but while visiting Michigan's Upper Peninsula, found out it wasn't so, but that you could see it from here.

For those unfamiliar with west Michigan, it is a vibrant, hard-working, art/music loving community. There are more churches per square mile than anywhere I've lived. This makes choral music rich and plentiful. It is also home to ArtPrize - a three week juried art festival which engages the everyday man and art critic alike. It awards the largest cash prizes of any art competition (to the best of my knowledge).

We enjoy the finest regional orchestra in the nation (Grand Rapids Symphony with which I sing in the chorus) and 17 institutions of higher learning. "Farm to table" is prevalent here as the growing fields are mere miles outside the city. Grand Rapids is a lovely place to call home.

In the spare summer hours, I muster up with Graham's Co. of the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment, play a bit of Celtic music, share stories around the campfire where dinner had been prepared and sleep in a canvas tent - thankfully, only for a weekend at a time. History is alive and well and richly presented through our extensive re-enactment community.

Life is good and I am blessed.
