Ten-year-old twins Ethan and Emmy are used to being left alone while their parents are off on business trips. It’s fun having free rein of the house, that is until a kitchen science experiment goes wrong and the children discover a secret room with an even bigger secret inside: their parents are . . . witch hunters?

Meanwhile at school, a new team of glamorous lunch ladies arrive on the scene, serving meals that taste way too good to come from a school cafeteria. When Ethan overhears a mysterious conversation in the kitchen about a secret ingredient, the kids realize they must get to the bottom of the magic that seems to be draining the energy—and maybe more—from all those that eat the irresistible treats.

Have witches come to Roosevelt Elementary? Can it be a mere coincidence that their parents left just as the witches arrived?
