HRH Princess Beatrice who announced The Oscar’s Book Prize

Stars were in attendance for the ninth annual award ceremony for Oscar’s Book Prize held at The Ivy Club in central London, including the awards patron, HRH Princess Beatrice who announced this year’s winner, the multi-talented author and illustrator, Chris Haughton.

Chris scooped up the £10,000 literary prize for Maybe…, a beautifully illustrated cautionary tale about three little monkeys. The award, supported by Amazon, the National Literacy Trust and the Evening Standard, was set up by James Ashton and Viveka Alvestrand to celebrate magical stories for children in memory of their son Oscar, who was three-and-a-half when he died from an undiagnosed heart condition in December 2012.

Also in attendance at last night’s ceremony was Laura Whitmore, Kara Tointon, Genevieve Gaunt, Nell Hudson, Camilla Rutherford and more. All in addition to some of the celebrity line-up from this year’s judging panel including Janet Ellis and Ben Bailey Smith (Doc Brown).
