The title "Half of A Yellow Sun" was derived from the symbol of the flag of the agitating Biafran Republic fighting to secede from Nigeria. Sadly enough, the secession cries from Biafra are getting louder today in 2017, although most observers believe it's just a shadow-show to demand for better attention from the central government than the desire to actually breakup from the largest black nation on earth.
