How To Use Book Luver

You can use 'boards' to showcase books you've read and luv, add a wish list of books you want to read and follow authors who have posted their books on Book Luver. If you have used Pinterest before, you will see that is is similar to that.

You can repin any book you see on the site, onto your own boards - this works well if you are creating a wish list of books you want to read and you can follow the comments of other readers who have read the book.

How To Join

  1. Click the 'register' link on the menu bar.Or the big blue button on our home page which says Today is a good day to Sign Up.
  2. Watch out for an email to verify that your email is correct.

How To Complete Your Profile

  1. Add an image. Click the blue icon where the image shows and upload an image.
  2. Add at least one sentence in the 'about' box so other readers, authors and publishers can see that you're an avid reader.

How To Add A Book Pin

A pin is just another way of saying 'add your book' so a pin is a piece of website content that you are adding to Book Luver, i.e. your book ~ with it's cover, description and links.

Here goes...

  1. After you have registered and logged into Book Luver, you will now see a RED BUTTON with + Add red on the menu.
  2. Click on the button and it will give you a page to add a book
  • Click the button that says 'upload a pin'
  • IMPORTANT: please only use the button that says ‘upload pin’ not the one where you add a URL. It does the same thing but with ‘upload pin’ you get to upload the image you want. That’s because many sites don’t connect or won’t allow the images to be shared with other sites, so it is better that you upload the image YOU want.
  • A page will open
  • Add a title
  • Click the 'browse button' to find the book image - the best size is 200 x 300 which allows the viewer to see your book description below the image
  • You can also add a video by adding the 'watch video URL' into the video box under the image section.
  • Select which board you want the image to be posted on
  • You can also just type a name into the box to create a new board - a new board will be created automatically according to the name you entered.
  • Describe the book.
  • IMPORTANT: Make sure the first sentence is the most compelling as that shows under your book image before the reader clicks on your book cover to enter.
  • For example, you may want to mention you've read that book and why you love it
  • Choose a genre
  • Add the URL where other readers can check out the book
  • Hit save

If you have not used Pinterest before and don't know how to add a board, use that as your guide.

How To Edit A Book Pin

  1. After you logged into Book Luver, go to your profile page. If you can't find it, you will see a 'Hello + Your Name' in the top right corner. Click on that to get to your profile.
  2. Find the book you added which will be on one of your boards.
  3. Click the book image to get to the book pin.
  4. Click 'edit' to go back inside and edit any information about your book.

Book Pin Image Size

  • IMPORTANT: Make sure your image is only 200 to 300 pixels. If you upload an image any bigger it will take up most of the page. This is for YOUR benefit, because there is a chance the reader will only see your image and not the text below where we will add the enter button. So - with a huge image taking the whole page, they will not see how to enter to win your book.

How To Add A Review Book

If you'd like to add books to our Book Review Club, follow these steps:

  • If you are already a member of Book Luver, logout.
  • Make your payment for the Book Review Club.
  • Login again to confirm your new membership.
  • If you want to add a new book to get reviews, scroll up and follow 'How to add a pin' above.
  • Make sure your image is not too BIG as mentioned above. Ideally 200 to 300px.
  • If you already have the book listed on Book Luver, scroll up and follow 'How to edit a pin' and now you will see that you can select to have that book in the Book Review Club. Once you select it, it will automatically show in the Review Club.
  • Make sure you select the 'Review Club' option, otherwise the book will NOT be shown in the Review Club.
  • Make sure your download link takes the reader to a page that DOES NOT SAY 'join my mailing list' and nothing about a review copy.  You will get readers bouncing away from that as they expect to see text about a review copy. Ensure your download link states clearly that they get a REVIEW COPY by adding their details.
  • You can do the same for any or all of the books you want to request reviews.
  • IMPORTANT: You will not see this 'Review Club' option if you have not made the payment via the link above.

Once you have followed these guidelines, your books will automatically be included in our Book Review Club where our members can download free copies to read and then post a review.

We advertise these books each month and at the same time we encourage those who have downloaded review copies to post their reviews. Be sure to keep checking and updating your book details regularly.

You can take the books off the Review Club at any time and add them back in again just by following these steps.

Important Notes For Review Copies

1. Prices
Don't include a price to your book. This is NOT advisable because that book is a 'review copy' and thus not for sale to the readers who will come to see your review copy. They will automatically think the book is not a complimentary copy and ignore it. You certainly don't want that! You are welcome to add the same book as a duplicate copy to Book Luver and add the price onto the duplicate copy, but readers coming to get review copies will not be expected to pay for them.

2. Cover Images
Don't have a huge cover image which will make the page load slowly and your text and download is at the bottom of the huge image. To have a safe bet on getting lots of downloads, make sure your image is only 200 or 300 pixels, 500. If you upload an image any bigger it will take up most of the page. This is for YOUR benefit, because there is a chance the reader will only see your image and not the text below where to get your review copy.

3. Download Link
Don't forget to add a link where the reader can go and download their free review copy. This is self-explanatory, but some authors forget to add links. You must have a link otherwise how do they download the book? Most authors use a Book Funnel link or via their website.

Please go back and check you have everything in place to ensure you get review copy downloads.

How To Add A Book Board

When you register, the site automatically creates 3 boards for you.

  • At any time you can click 'edit' on the board and choose a name for your board from 'Board 1' , 'Board 2' etc to anything you like.
  • Describe the board - this is optional if you want to use this.
  • Give your boards creative names, see the ideas listed below. Remember that the site automatically gives you default Boards 1, 2, 3 so click edit and rename them with the theme of that particular board. Be creative and show the viewer what your board is about.
  • See examples of Paula's boards

How To Manage Your Book Boards

The options are: Me only (Leave field empty), My friends (Create friends list entering their user profile names).
